Buchheim Collection - Museum of Imagination

in 82347 Bernried, Bavaria (DE)

The Buchheim Museum is located north of Bernried in a beautiful park directly on the banks of Lake Starnberg. Günter Behnisch has designed a structure that reflects the museum's extraordinary diverse collections, ... well as the sensibilities of its founder Lothar-Günther Buchheim: painter, photographer, publisher, author of art books and novels (“Das Boot”). Buchheim's collection encompasses outstanding Expressionist art - Kirchner, Heckel, Schmidt-Rottluff, Pechstein…– related to “outsider art”, as well as folk- and ethnological art.
