Herrenchiemsee King Ludwig II Museum

The story of Ludwig II’s life and early death is documented with paintings, busts and historic photographs, as well as memorabilia such as his christening gown and coronation robe.

Furnishings from the king’s former apartment and the winter garden at the Munich Residence and plans for Neuschwanstein, Linderhof and Herrenchiemsee are also on display, and there is a large exhibition of craft objects created for Ludwig II.
A separate section is devoted to the king’s friendship with Richard Wagner, with portraits, caricatures, examples of scores and stage sets, and a model of the festival theatre planned by Gottfried Semper for Munich.
